Welcome to Southwest Neurosurgical Associates, the office of Dr. Andrew K. Metzger. Our practice is now permanently closed. For over 20 years Southwest Neurosurgical Associates and Dr. Metzger proudly served our community and our patient’s needs as an independent private practice of neurological surgery. During his 22 years in New Mexico, Dr. Metzger performed highest volumes of spine surgery, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, and deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s Disease and essential tremor. Dr. Metzger was also voted “Top Doc” in Neurosurgery by his practicing physician colleagues sixteen times. With thoughtful consideration, Dr. Metzger decided to close the practice on August 31, 2023. Dr. Metzger has relocated to Arizona and has joined Barrow Brain and Spine. He is primarily based at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center and the new office address is:
If you would like to see Dr. Metzger in his new practice in Gilbert, Arizona, you can call the number above or send a secure message using the “message us” button at the bottom right corner of this webpage. Please note that not all health insurances in New Mexico are contracted with Barrow Brain and Spine. Currently they are not contracted with any of the Presbyterian Health Plans. They accept straight Medicare, but the only Medicare Advantage plan currently accepted at Barrow is Cigna Medicare Advantage. If you are an existing patient of Dr. Metzger’s and would like copies of your medical records, these are now stored at Iron Mountain. Please note that the most important part of your medical record, the operative report and new patient consultation note that led to the decision for surgery, is already available to you and all of your medical providers through the “Epic” electronic medical record system used by both Presbyterian and Lovelace, so you may not need to request this information from our charts at Iron Mountain. If there is additional information we may have in our paper chart not available already in Epic, please contact:
Also please be aware that most radiology (MRI, CT, x ray) is archived electronically by the imaging center where these studies were performed, so if we had CDs in our chart of your imaging, you probably do not need these back. |
